The title isn't quite true, but I could do with the tv volume up a few notches more than the wife.
Do any of you fellow latebayers use any sort of headphones whilst watching tv, or if not, does anyone know if there's a type that allows 2 people to watch tv, one listening via normal speakers and the other using headphones...in other words a type that don't plug directly into the tv, thereby cutting off the tv speakers.
I await a response, but please SHOUT.

Do you have a separate amplifier or are you using tv the speakers?
Do you have a sky box or other source?

But I'm not deaf just a little hard of hearing....honest.

  13. Bit of a touchy subject for me this, eldest lad is profoundly Deaf due to meningitis & Mrs ST is partially deaf due to a rotted ear drum (grommet not being taken out when it should have been) ..... there is likely a function on your t.v. where you can adjust/set the minimum volume

  14. Im quite hard of hearing and do have hearing aids which are great sometimes but a pita!! TV is an issue for us too. the way sound is engineered in programmes and films and the significant increase in volume during adverts is damned annoying. I struggle to hear and frankly its really not the same with sub titles although needs must! Spend your time focussing on the script and miss half the film. I've given up on numerous films and progs because I've no bloody idea what's going on. Even worse when they insist on having a silly backing track - no film music just in some bloody fly on the wall programme .

Often people do make jokes when they are aware you have hearing issues and its ok to a point but every now and then it gets beyond tedious. They wouldn't take the pee if you were blind or had lost a limb or something but seem to think its amusing to talk to you like your senile. Surprising how many people do it.

    Best wishes

Must admit I like a good Scandinavian cop drama with subtitles...you really have to concentrate...but I still say, turn sound up, I can't here what their saying.
