As a few of you know i'm a bit of a rail enthusiast, after i outed myself the other night i thought i'd post a quick "show and tell" of what i do on these rail tours i go on, the whole idea with these for me is to re-live past trips when trains were proper engines - not plastic crappy foreign things like todays railway use. Yesterday i caught the train from stafford at 6.30 am to weymouth in dorset - down south somewhere.....good trip down plenty to see on the way and appreciate the loco on the front (a twin engined diesel "deltic" 55022 with 3300bhp on tap for a 50 year old loco it was a great trip) got to weymouth at 12.45 giving us 3 hours there had time for a few beers, a nose round the town, and a walk on the beach plus fish and chips, set back at 15.35 and got back to stafford at 22.10. here's a few pics and a video of the deltic departing stafford.

the guys who own D9000 do a great job maintaining her...I was lucky to ride in the second mans seat of 55017 out of Kings Cross years ago, was awesome!

My Dad ran the Test Labs for British Rail Research in Derby for many years, till they closed it down (I had the fortune of doing work there when it was owned by AEA Technology)

  13. Most of my business is rail based - we sell the machinery for maintaining and overhauling trains. Done some work for the preserved side of the business, but they don't normally have much money, so mostly modern passenger EMUs / DMUs.

  14. Sorry HF your Thomas the tank engine is an imposter....

This is the real one... I know, because the photo was taken on the Island of Sodor.
