Dating certificate

  1. My 1973 camper will be eligible for free road-tax this year - whoopee! However, the completely mental DVLA require a dating certificate even though it's always been a UK registered vehicle - talk about useless red tape.

Any suggestion as to where can I obtain a dating certificate?

  6. If DVLA don't have dating evidence for the Build Date, DVLA use the UK Registration Date, if it was UK Registered in 1973 then there's not an issue surely? What do they expect you to do? Find a 1974 Build Date?I expect that because they have not had any written notice yet from the Chancellor regarding the extension of Historic Vehicles VED from pre-73 to pre-74 that the person you were speaking to thinks you're trying to establish a Build Date before 1973 under existing rules, which of course you will likely be unable to establish.

Don't waste your money based on poor advice, DVLA don't know what your are talking about, yet, officially.

  7. Thanks for the replies. I found it quite unbelievable when speaking to their adviser. I suspect you're right and will wait until April to see what happens. I don't remember having to do anything to my old motorcycles back in 1997, they just changed the tax class.
