Engine load floor/fuel tank sender cut out repair and seat belt anchors. Decided not to create a hatch so as to not have petrol fumes in the van as it only takes 3.5 mins to pull the engine anyway .did replace fuel sender though but gauge still doesnt work
not being funny but that is a lot cleaner and in better nick than most resto's start at. if the mileage is right its not done a lot of work... new arches on it and its just about done.............
Exactly what I thought when I picked it up, still taken a year so far, although only just been able to get my other rot box with a funny two piece front window out of my garage to get on with the welding. Think the mileage may be genuine as looks to be correct AS code engine which has no end float at all and runs perfect
Rotten beam reconstruction minus 4 inches and some albatross adjusters which I never got round to fitting to my old yellow(orange!) Devon sundowner 15 yrs ago!(before I could weld) cheers to customcoachworks website for beam build info
80 quid E bay MSW 7J 16 ,in 5x112 which still dont clear the arches even with a 4 inch chop still not sure if i want it really slammed anyway
Just read your resto Im in the process of doing my 79 panel . The beams spot on just replaced mine with adjusters in and 3 half inch drop and I have problems with my 15in wheels . Can I ask what size nuts is on the petrol tank strap Thanks simon
Hi simon , yeah Wheel/beam combinations always require lots of modifying! Thought my wheels would just fit but the fact I had no refrence points due to arches missing and also dropped spindles added about half an inch...may well change wheels later anyway, think fuel tank strap was either 14mm or 15 mm (socket size!) But remember it being a pig because the gearbox hanger frame holds the outside of the socket off, idealy it needs a deep reach thin socket, I just pulled the extension out of the socket so it was just in far enough to turn. Also needed vise grips on the strap to stop it spinning and lots of free it/grease on the thread as it was corroded to feck and couldnt clean it up first or even cut it off as hidden up in the frame! Good luck with it bud
L/H side , inner sill repair sliding track was still good with no rot so just replaced the lower part of inner sill, new outer, and b pillar re constructed with new front arch offered up to check alignment!
RH lower panel and outer sill repair and b pillar....lucky I managed to get a complete but bent and twisted complete side panel from heritage damaged e bay auction and chop the good bits off, also now have some good steel left over to make my tubs.
