Daisy's 1968 deluxe beetle full restoration

  1. Gonna hope to finish the rear axels tomoz mate just need shock and then state the front beam !!
    Gotta order the frame head ect next week and get it welder on then drop the floor pans in and brakes I'll have this a chassis done in a few weeks mate !! Then onto the body !!

    ... then you can just "pop the top back on" and you're all done. :)

  3. It's not a big job really is it bud if I had all the parts is finish the chassis in a good weekends works !!

  5. Thats what I'm enjoying to be honest u can spend all day on a bus come in and uv got nothing to look at !!
    On a beetle u can do loads

  7. They were with me for a good hour which was longer than I exspected !!
     
  8. Had a few hours this morning while kids out at there clubs !!
    Built up the other side of swing axle sealed the hub and started to build up the other drum and fitted new brake cylinder and hand brake cable on that side allso ,
    Then fitted rattle springs on other site and fitted drum (just gotta torque it later on)
    Touched up the paint on the other side and test for one of the floor pans , they fit really good actually !!
    Then cleaned off the front beam and painted it , that's it for today

    It's amazing what 2 weeks in a tent on your drive can do in a resto

  10. It's my birthday this week and Iv asked for parts lol
    I'm allso just putting a little order together for some more parts front beam next and complete new frame head !!

  12. I asked for parts for christmas and got jackets and boots instead.:(

    If you're replacing the whole front framehead then you'd be better off getting a genuine rust free import cut off a donor chassis as the klokkerholm ones don't fit very well and some aren't even straight.
    Heres a piccy of the genuine vw framehead jig. Its for the pre '65 king and linkpin beam but gives you an idea how it works. It bolts to the 2 gear lever mounting bolts.
    I've got the official factory how to proceedure too as a pdf file if you want it.

  16. There's one for sale on vzi for £50 at the moment. Not sure if it's for balljoint or K&L though. I'll send you the PDF file in the morning when I get back on my computer.

  19. I wanted to I thought u said to buy new one ? I'm confused now
    I'll have a play with it in the week clean it back and get some thicker steel !!
