The stereo in my bus needs rewiring (not sure if it works anyway) and the current speaker setup's pretty naff. Thinking about treating myself to a new head unit if I'm going to spend a day plumbing it in and changing speakers anyway. As a certified Luddite I've always been faithful to the cassette format for my in car entertainment, but recently been enjoying BBC 6 music (I used to hate it - what happened?) Is it time to get with it and go modern? Does anyone have a DAB radio in their car? If so are they any good and which one should I get?
I bought a PURE head unit from halfrauds, the DAB one, think it's a 260 model. Have to buy a DAB aerial, I've got one that sticks to the window but it's really good. We listen to Absolute 80's at home and it's really nice to listen to it in the bus now
Of course. And building a rack for my 78s. Got this for the major analogue formats anyway. It's got a 12 volt input, as well as mains for use on hookup.
I have one as oem in my Eos and I can't say that I am overly impressed with it. Seems to lose signal easily especially if carp weather
Looks quite good. Does it work well / sound any good? Actually we sell Pure stuff at work (don't generally do car audio though) so I might be able to get a deal on one http://www.pure.com/product/highway-h260dbi-vl-62011/ This one?
I know that DAB coverage is better in some areas than others so be good to hear where people live and what their experiences are. I know that the signal is pretty good where I live, but where I'm going camping is probably equally as important.
Fitted one early in the year and as mentioned pretty pants, to be honest over 50mph cant hear it anyway.
That's the one with hands free kit too Sounds nice, as nice as its gonna sound in the bus lol. I had to two way in the kick panels and two 6x9s in the front of the bed and it was goooood!!
I've had this discussion before. I remember @Baysearcher saying his is pony. I think his is just pony. I have one in the car and one in the van. Both are superb. I listen to XFM sometimes, I only lose it when at the end of the M3. That is 40 odd miles of a London only station without interruption. I love 6 music - no problems with signal. Kenwood head unit with windscreen aerial. Can't remember the model but not expensive. Look up posts by me with the word kenwood in. Top job!
I recently installed a Kenwood KDC-BT73DAB head unit it is very very good. It also comes with the dab aerial which not all stereos do.
The Kenwood looks more polished, but then it costs more. Do you find them easy (safe) to use on the move - I quite like the fact that the Pure has a few physical buttons, but hard to gauge ease of use on a few pics...
