Cylinder Fin Removal

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Deefer66, Dec 4, 2019.

  1. Having cleaned the deck of the heads , the last fin is very close to the head.. 0.3mm.
Would it be better to take off last fin and let a proper amount of air get along the head face?

  2. Not much cooling required at base of cylinder compared with higher up.

  3. It's at the head end..so won't get much air down the face of the head, lots of other holes in head I suppose!.. I'll put the angle grinder down then....

  4. Took some face off the head and cylinder fin with a finger sander as couldn't be bothered with the machine shop

Daylight gap now... took a little more off after that photo too as head "fin" looks quite thick and can take a bit of loss...
