I know its a long shot question and I did some research on here and thesamba but..as can’t buy the genuine ones (whatever it means) atm Im wondering if theres something I should go for? I mean the brand?..anyone have some good experience with some stuff that is on sale on the market currently?..gkn meyle torpan..how they hold up?..I has a really bad experience with some cheapo stuff from gsf few years ago it perished and felt into pieces after 6 months of my bus sitting on the driveway..managed to buy og one (white reddish box if my memory serves well) and its still holds up well..now another one needs replacing..messy job you know..

    Cheers

  2. Have a search on here, Arek. Been plenty of posts/suggestions. I can't remember the recommendations.

  3. I can only go on what I've tried. J and r or r and j on eBay ??? I will look in a min. Complete joints and boots £15 each. Been on 3 years. Boots were good last time I looked.

I've got som Meyle ones, I can confirm that after almost 2 years they are holding up well.....how they will fare when I take them out of the boxes and get around to fitting them I don't know!
A Lockdown job when I really run out of jobs to do !

  6. In 2016 I fitted german made GKN Lobro kits from (GSF).

They have been fine as far as I can tell

  7. I used SKF boots. Seem good quality with plenty of rubber content unlike some of the stiff type which seem to be more plastic.

I have a set of genuine VW ones bought from Heritage. They are still good well over a year later. They cost £37 each. Available on back order.
When I bought them, the packaging had a use by date of 2021 printed on it. If I remember right.

I got fed up with the cheap ones, record was 3 months for one set before they split.

  11. ..oh and get new bolts if they're not in the kit.. and buy the sintered washers off someone else but a VW shop, you get 50 for the same price as 6!

I bought a bag of 12.6 rated hex bolts for a fraction of the price of the VW ones. A bag of the Schnorr washers, reused the spreader pieces. Havent fallen off yet.
