thats how it should go :). make sure you clean out all the bolt heads and rotate the drive shaft so the bolt is in a possition so you can get on it easy. i usually jack it up and a have someone pull the handrake on and off as i undo each one

  6. Ive just done these on mine!! you can replace the whole drive shaft with 2 cv joints on each arm as a bundle for about £120 per arm..

or take each one off and work out which one is worn and replace as needed (about £30 oer joint!)

dont even try to undo the alan bolts, they have been there for 30 odd years so are as stuck as heck. just cut the holding washer out from under the bolt with a cutting disc, it takes the pressure out from them and will then allow you to mole grip them out!! I spent hours trying to sweat em out before going for this approach..

After checking the joints and bearings it turned out my cv joints, although worn were not the problem and the race that the ball bearings run in on the rear wheel bearing had worn and cracked causing the problem..

Saved me near enough £300 .. Bonus in my mind!! And i still have a spare CV joint! ;D

  8. The bolts should come off pretty easily. To change the boots you'll need to remove the cv joints from the shafts.

  10. i have 2 complete shafts ready to fitt £60 plus post owen n w

  11. Go for the highest quality boots, as some are really pants, the ones I put on before Lola was on the road lasted a staggering 16 metres of turning the van round ???

  12. How do I check my cv joints to see if there screwed without driving the bus
And I am going to have to split a joint to get the boots on just thought about that
If the joints are screwed are the one you have Owen in good condition
And can you see how much the postage us to ng17 ( Nottingham )
    Cheers steve

  13. Only by taking them off, cleaning the grease off and inspecting them. They may be fine and just need regreasing.

They need to come off to change the boots anyway.

As above, cheap boots will last 5 mins.

  15. Firstly I found that my Allen Bolts undid very easily enough, I used an impact driver type on mine (socket style). As previously stated use good boots, but who supplies good boots as I have to replace mine?
    Thanks in advance.
