Cutting an accelerator cable.

  1. Hi all. can anyone tell me which tool to buy to cut the accelerator cable very neatly. I have to shorten one to fit to my twin carb linkage. its too long. I have the stainless steel ferrule to fit on the end.

I usually solder an inch or 2 to bind it together, then snip with the wire cutters. I did one today. :)

Or if it's a pukka cable it will be single strand anyway...

  4. works for me too:)

  5. You can also get it hot with a propane torch or similar before using wire cutters

If you fit the ferrule, will you still be able to disconnect the cable?

As said decent wire cutters or use a sharp chisel against a vice.

I always use my massive bolt cutters to cut mine, works on push bike cables as well.

  11. It clamps with a grub screw so yes.

  12. I used my tin snips last weekend and was a lovely cut....I like the idea of a bit of solder though
