Managed to drive off with charger still attached to car and pulled the wires out of connector.
The wires aren't marked in any way, does it matter which way the wires go into connector when I try and put it back together?

  2. Yes, otherwise it'll nag you that you've connected the battery the wrong way round.

  3. The CTEK itself should register a polarity error if you get the wires the wrong way around, check with the manual/instructions first, however.

  4. Put a meter on it to see what way they go.

It's actually my mates Ctek... tried with a multimeter but didn't get a reading.
As he's already bought a replacement, he's going to copy how wires come out of new one.

Quite often the positive core of a figure of 8 type insulated two core cable (speaker or power cable) will have a ridge on the outside opposite the ridge where the two cores insulation shells are joined. Or it could be negative.. best to look for the ridge on one thats wired properly.

If the cores are split apart the negative one has one rough ridge and the positive has two, one rough one smooth.
