Afternoon, I've been looking at Ctek battery conditioners. I want something that I can connect to my van starter battery when left for a period of time, that will trickle charge the battery from mains power. Any recommendations? Cheers
i just bought a Ctek MXS 5.0 for my leisure install, looks well made and up to the job i got mine from ebay
Ctek are best for the money. Ctek 5 is the min but i would go for the 7 Amazon are the cheapest dont use ring ones but if you want the best sterling http://www.sterling-power.com/products-battbatt.htm http://www.shop.sterling-power.com/acatalog/Non---Waterproof-Battery-to-Battery-Chargers.html http://www.shop.sterling-power.com/acatalog/Alternator_to_Battery_Chargers_.html
Those sterling ones are all 12v to 12v though aren't they? I want something more like a trickle charger that will keep my starter battery topped up from the mains? Is this available? Cheers for your help!
I've got an old and a new Oxford Oximiser - one for the van, one for my bike - both are really good (on my bike I was changing batteries every 2 years - am now on my 5th year with the same battery). I leave them permanently plugged in when the vehicles are not in use - they are battery conditioners though, not chargers.
they do them http://www.sterling-power.com/products-chargers-procharge.htm But they are big and a bit over the top I like the ctek 7 the issue i have had with some of the other cheaper ones it they don't like being connected when the alternators charging. One issue with the ctek ones, if you run the battery right down it wont charge it as it thinks its not there so you have to jump it or run the engine for a bit before it sees it.
So with the Ctek 7: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-Battery-Charger-Cigarette-Lighter/dp/B006W6VU32 I can plug it into a 240 volt supply and it'll keep my starter battery topped up? Do I leave it on all the time? Cheers
You can leave it on all the time or the kit comes with a lead you fit to the battery terminals and just plug the charger in when you want A cheaper one http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-Multi-Battery-Charger-Conditioner/dp/B00CQ24YPC/ref=sr_1_7?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1372095730&sr=1-7&keywords=ctek mxs 7.0
mxs 5 ctek does fine on a battery under 100 amp hours. i leave mine conected when its cold. very good technology. if you bat is bigger than that then get a charger that will cope.
