Hi all, I still have an issue with my clutch when engaging reverse. I fitted a new clutch and thrust bearing about 250miles ago when I refitted the engine. I didn't adjust the cable at the time, and was getting a crunch everytime I engaged reverse. I adjusted the cable, this was great for a few days, but then it returned to its crunchy ways. Adjusted in again, and all was well until today when it has crunched a few times today, but not all the time? I am turning the nut on the cable to tighten it, is that right? Or do I need to turn the wing nut? I'm not sure if its undoing itself again when I'm tightening the cable up? It didn't crunch before I killed the engine so it's only since the new clutch has been fittd? The wing nut seems to be fitted about 1/2 way along the threaded bit Thanks once again all
How is it that I adjust it? Does the wing nut just turn or do I need to pull the cable back to releas then tension?
When you try and turn the wingnut it trys to turn the whole cable I hold the nut with one pair of mole grips and use another pair to give leverage on the wingnut The base of the wing nut is shaped as such so it locks into a slot so as you turn it it will feel like it jumps every quater of a turn

Just adjust bit by bit checking operation as you go. The cable stretches with use and there comes a point when it ll be too long. You can stack some washers between the wingnut and the clutch arm to compesate for this till you get a new cable. When adjusted properly there should be about half an inch of play at the pedal
