I recently lowered the rear of my van by 1 spline. It now sits on the bump stops. I hadn't realised that one spline would leave it sitting on them. Since lowering there is a creaking noise anytime the suspension moves. Is this normal? I have checked that everything is secured as it should. I've often heard that one spline down doesn't require any modification but have people even had to remove bumpstops?
“Since lowering there is a creaking noise anytime the suspension moves. Is this normal?” Do you think VW designed it to creak? And if it sits on the bump stops it’s a MOT failure. Either raise it so you have some suspension or shorten the bump stops, but then you might have to fit shorter dampers and you might not be able to remove the wheel.
I had the same problem sounded like a "Duck Quacking" I replaced the Torsion Donuts. I may be wrong but it definitely sorted my problem
Forgive my ignorance but what are torsion donuts? I haven't heard that phrase before edit............ just googled it. Didn't realise they were called that. Might have a look at mine later so
Still looking for an answer from people who have lowered their van by one spline. Is yours sitting on the standard bumpstops? My van was definitely never lowered before and rode quite high before. I also am 100% certain that I only came down one spline Thanks
I finally tracked the "creaking" to the left rear shock. I believe it's knackered Does anyone have any recommendations for rear shocks on a van lowered 1 spline?
