Crankshaft Pulley Rubbing

  1. Hi , I have an alluminium crank pulley which i have fitted . My problem is when engine turns over the pulley is rubbing on the casing and shaving the outer edge . I installed it with the washer and nut it came with , I was wondering if it needs another washer on back edge of pulley to space it away from casing . Any advise would be be very helpful . thankyou

  2. Put the og one back on now. The ally one is not right if it's doing that. There is no oil seal that end of the crank. Only a screw thread cut into the pulley to return oil to the case when turning. If the ally one knackers the case too much you won't stop oil getting out there.

  3. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

It's not unusual to have to "adjust" the tin immediately behind the pulley, are you sure it's not hitting this? If it's hitting the case something is very wrong.

  4. What make of pulley wheel is it? I have a scat one look a little adjusting of the tinware as zed said but apart from that it's fine.
