You know, I gave up on £150 Dubarry boots and now wear a pair of £15 green Dunlop wellies to go sailing. Once they have been used for a while the soles stop marking decks... I got in a fair bit of sailing but my boat is just visible from the house, so no rule breaking to get to it.
I got half a summer of sailing in - even won some Wednesday evening yacht races single handed in my boat, although it was really hard work when the wind got up to Force 4.
Is that because the better sailors weren't there? There were a couple of people at my club who won every club race they entered. How happy we were when they weren't around!
