I think a lot of the newbie caravaners and motorhomers will be one season wonders once they have to come to terms with our weather.

You can already book sites with the Caravan and Motorhome Club as far forward as Easter 2022
I think that the free spirit side of camping will be lost for a couple of years.

  3. I think it's great that more folk want to go camping, but I think many won't stick at it when international tourism returns.

Also, I agree with @bernjb56! Many will want their usual two weeks off and will be disappointed when it rains 6 days on the trot. We know you have to work with the weather, not against it.

Or, you go along for the people whose company you enjoy and appreciate, and put up with the worst of what our island's weather throws at you.

  4. Well it was bad enough last year in Cornwall with the Covid regulations in place when I went in September
Nobody was flying out to other destinations,
everybody wanted to go to the campsites , I don’t suppose anyone noticed the price hikes
Well this year will probably be worse, the West Country will be extra busy extra expensive
A Good time to sell campers and caravans:)
Just think what it will be like in reality nowhere left to book nowhere left to park ,
When those who would usually go abroad all decide to go to the coast on their holidays
Stuck down there in the rain...or even worse stuck in traffic if there’s a heatwave :D

I was just thinking on this and decided the answer is to go for a holiday somewhere near Birmingham where camper vans seem to originate from, while they are all stuck nose to tail on the M5 going southwest waiting for the jack-knifed caravan at Taunton Services to be dragged out of the way, and the Bay Window that caught fire after being bought for £30000 from a boutique camper suppliers...

There will be places to go, just think like an idiot and then go the other way...

It will be several years before the world settles down to travelling again by which time all that will be left will be expensive flights on a reduced network.

Some countries may still be no-go areas, we are probably going to be one as far as most of the world is concerned, so getting out may be hard.

£30+ a night in mid to high season...got about 8 weeks booked for next year between Easter and September..hope things have settled down in 2022 so across the channel is possible/ safe.

  8. It'll be a nightmare trying to find somewhere quiet , seemed like everybody and his dog were in Scotty-land when I popped up last September so i bailed and found a quieter time in Lincolnshire. There's so many motorhomes with idiots who look on exploration as toddling around in their front room on wheels it's getting silly. On the bright side there were lots taking up layby and free parking which would obviously make more space available on the camping sites but I can see the authorities clamping down and forcing everyone onto sites .
It'll be a few years before the newbie motorhome nuggets decide to get back onto cruise ships , in the meantime I'm thinking the way forward is to search out certified sites without hook-up or start letting down tyres - they might have a 40 inch flat screen tv but won't have a pump..
