Coming from a prototype bay/Split background I have noticed a few things that I wondered if someone could explain what they are/confirm my suspicions Firstly this wiring block in the engine bay.. why is it mounted high like this and is it just for the lights? I'll looking at fitting a towbar in the future does this have any kind of prewire in it? (wishful thinking) Secondly whats all the weird tubes on the roof of the engine bay that go up into the side air intake vents? I'm guessing its some kind of emission or exhaust gas circulation along those lines. How does it work?
Weird tubes = fuel tank breather pipes, good practice to replace all the little bits of fuel hose connecting them. Or else they may leak fuel vapour and cause a bang
The box is VW's diagnostic connector, which isn't much use to you. As above, the pip work is part of the fuel tank breather system.
Those 2 pipes on the engine bay roof shouldn't just be connected together though. It should be a "T" connector with the third going to your air filter.
Cool those pics where from another Bus just checked mine and they are connected in the way you suggested
