Coolair door skin

  1. When i did my sliding door I used the tall repair panel best quality one. For the inner I used a cut off a LHD door. The profile is the same just need to pop in the captive nut that is now in the wrong side. My reason for using the tall one was, first the join is hidden behind the actual door frame so the repair can be almost perfectly hidden. Also a small bottom repair and tall outer repair in my opinion makes for a stronger repair rather than both in the same place.

  2. Thanks for the reply! Where did you source the outer repair panel? Sorry how does it hide it better if a larger panel? I thought it would mean the taller repair panel is about half way up the lower section of door? (Or am I not getting what you're meaning?) mine is rotten for the bottom 3"

Be careful with the Klokkenholm Inner Sliding Door repair section, we just bought one, the pressing one end is none existent. Luckily we don't need much!

The outer repair skin is Autocraft sold by VW Heritage, the 250mm one - we have one of these too, its spot on :)

Very tidy looking Mick; we're doing Majors sliding door this week, luckily the rot isn't too bad, about an inch tall by about 8" long!

  7. Cheers, it turned out well, left hand drives are cheap, easier to buy a left hand drive for a good inner part.

Id like to redo Gusbus door sometime; we didn't get the curve right and it straightened out on us, its not one of our better successes

  9. I know its once its done its harder to do next time, I still opted to go big on the first repair due to the strength thing, as I used a joggler I had a few mm to play with if it had gone wrong. Just weld slowly !!! The tall repair panels are spot on.

Ill pop some photos up at the weekend on Majors door; this one we know from experience to take our time, weld slowly and use our profile to keep the shape
