I've searched to no avail, but I've previously read a full photo based tutorial somewhere, but didnt bookmark it, on how to insert a small electrical microswitch into the switch housing to make use of the original wash function. Question is, has anyone got the link to it?
I did this and posted a how to.....probably on Kamper chat.....sometime last century....God knows if it's still around... You know what you're doing with electrics Kruger....follow your instinct
install common or garden 12v washer pump below the washer bottle.....earth to chassis run two cables up the column to the washer stalk.....one needs to be fused at source, the other runs to the pump remove the original valve and tubing use the original valve to make up a little block to hold a copper contact...solder fused +ve to this solder another contact onto the stalk....solder the other cable to this.....
I have done a few not got any pics but once you get the column switch unit off and see how it works it will be easy to work it out
I recently got a replacement column switch for my bus which included electrical contacts for the wash…alongside the traditional valve. I'll try to get pics next time I'm out there. I wasn't aware that this was even an option!
whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. What's wrong with the pump up style? I convert lots from electric back to OG so the owners can get away from whirrrrrrrrrr!!! I don't get buying a vehicle because it's quirky then removing the quirks.
OG is great as long as you remember to pump it up before the MOT!. Mine was converted by the PO…badly, but given I've now got a switch with contacts on it (seemingly factory fitted), I'll maybe try and do it properly sometime!
Its had the electric pump already put in by the previous owner - its just the previous fisher price switch effort I wanted to lose! I'm sure they'll be plenty of other quirks to keep me entertained!
That's not funny! He used to do my windows but now I have to do them myself. I wondered where he'd got to
