Converting from Black to Chrome Handles.....saga continues

So having decided to convert from black handles to chrome originals, I order some original re chromed versions and they arrive promptly the next day (not cheap but definitely qualit you)... So far so good. Take the door card off the van, took the handle off, then found that the lock barrel in black handles are wider diameter than chrome ones.......Phone the supplier who confirms I need new lock barrels, order those at great expense and they arrive today. Remove door handle and door card again and then realise that the spring clip and bolt which screws onto end of the barrel is different.........wondering why the supplier didn't tell me this.... Getting very frustrated now.... And also wondering if they have those pieces in stock too.

They do indeed have wider lock barrels.

 

All the parts are different, you're better off getting some complete handle and re chroming yourself, otherwise find a crappy complete pair of door handles and swap all the bits

 

Thanks chaps, that's where I am. Does it have to be this difficult?!

 

It's only difficult if you assume aftermarket parts are the same as originals.
