Conversion Companies?

  1. So I think it would be best for Benson and myself if I bite the bullet and get someone who can do justice to converting my interior.

Are you guys able to recommend any reputable companies who arnt going to charge me the earth to essentially get a 3/4 bed, full length cupboards and new floors and maybe panels?

  2. Depending on your budget a second hand interior may be the way forward ....I'd guess a completely new interior would be 5-6k.

Prepare to get your pants pulled down.
IMHO interiors are the only thing for these old buses that are genuinely a rip off.

  4. Buy an interior and fit it yourself, either new or second hand.

As @Baysearcher says you will actually feel like you have been physically abused if you pay a company to do it!!!

  5. Any idea on where the best place to pick one up is or do I need to just keep an eye on eBay?

I have seen some pressure treated mdf ones that would need painting etc but am unsure if they would stand the test of time.
    What have you guys done?

  6. Complete strip down of your interior and redone so

New bed, cupboards, headlining, front seats upholstered, electrics, flooring. Will set you back a fair amount.

But in mind well worth it... If you don't have the time to build or fit a second hand kit.

I used camper shak, Mike was awesome and his work is outstanding.

    Check out my camper thread.

I saw a 9k interior a couple of years ago done by one of the big name companies.
To be blunt it was badly made and badly fitted.

  8. What do people do with the panel behind the cupboards that run the length of the van. Most cupboards don't come with backs on

  11. ...and they would be?

  12. My interior was re-built by Tim at Custom Classic & Retro.

  13. Personally I put a back on mine! My old one had a back too! why wouldn't it?

  14. I know. It doesn't come with one. I was just thinking some flexible wood. Not sure what though.

  15. I had mine done by Volksmad interiors. I fitted it. It was pretty cool fitting it myself. I could run all the things like speaker wires, electric as I remembered them. Meant I could plan it all out as we wanted it.

  16. My old one was just hardboard.

  17. Mine do not have backs, but the panel behind is hard boarded and carpeted. I will post a pic tonight if you want.

Mime don't have backs either, I fitted plain uncovered panels on the bus.

  19. If you could that would be amazing

  20. Will do it tonight.
