Interesting - how do you get at this filter?

  2. Picked it out with a pin!

    Is that an empi carb?

  4. Just inside where fuel pipe goes into carb, like a little cone filter

I've seen these filters blocked on T25,s and old Vauxhalls in the 80's. Not many people know they are there.
Skid, i've spent the last couple of weeks sorting a similar problem on my beetle. (1600 twin port). This is now my winter daily so this is what i did.
Removed the twin webbers, removed the 009. Removed alloy bottom pulley.
Refitted PICT3 , fitted standard VW air filter with heat riser tube, cleaned out the heat pipe in the inlet manifold, fitted a new accuspark dizzy set to 7.5 btdc.
Set carb on gas annaliser at work. 99% better but still had a flat spot. Changed the accelerator pump diaphragm on the carb, now 100% better.

  6. @vinnyboy cheers for the reply bud, but me and the long hair general have decided to take the plunge and replace the tank, fuel lines, filter, sender unit, and (whoop whoop) new twin port webers & possibly an electric fuel pump if needed, get it done once and for all instead of keeping our fingers crossed every time we go out. there goes the saving then.:eek:

    steveagain and vinnyboy like this.
  7. OMG what a difference having the webers on and changing the fuel lines and tank also the lightened flywheel, put my foot down and it flies, no flat spots, brilliant.
