does anybody know if JK or VWH have now been able to supply a non melt consertina tube from pod to Y section as i have managed to get 2 genuine heat exchangers cheers.

  2. trust me @Faust .....if you already have two concertina tubes either original style or new (melting/non-melting?) you are without doubt better to take them appart (the plastic housing unscrews) and replace the internals as suggested....if JK or VWH were to do this, they'd be selling them as De Luxe versions...
New ones are £30 each last time I looked....that's £60 worth of dubious sh*te IMO (no disrespect to JK or VWH btw)

I will do as you suggest Vanorak as the flexy pipe i have seems to be a trifle to big, i could bulk out the Y section and pod end and then re clamp up all be it rather crude .... it could also be insulated somehow too.

  4. if you just need the plastic housings, and fancy making a pair up, with stainless mesh tubes and proper insulation, you can have mine...if you don't mind covering the postage...the innards really aren't worth using....PM me your details if interested

  5. alternatively....if you were thinking to buy a roll of that stainless wool to wrap round the mesh before the insulation, We could say sod the postage and you swap me a length of stainless wool for the housings?

have a think and let me know.....either way, you're welcome to them.

Thank Vanorak i will have a think over the weekend and let you know . How much of the stainless wool do you need , and how much will i need for the tubes so i know how much to get . cheers

  7. the plastic mesh tube inside the concertina housing is approximately 300mm long when fitted, and 65mm OD...
To give you a visual idea, if you roll a piece of A4 paper up so both long edges are just touching this is very close to the size you need (couple of mm short length wise)
So if you were to buy two A4 sized pieces of fine guage stainless steel mesh and roll them up to make tubes, you'd need enough stainless steel wool to spiral wrap each tube to a thickness of about 5mm...I reckon about 2m per tube. The rockwool, you could simply steal from your loft, and wrap/pack this inside the housing.....

Don't worry about sending me some wool.....it's just that when I do these types of jobs, carpetting, soundproofing or whateverI tend to buy more than I need, and have stuff left over....

I had a look on Fleabay and it looks like you can buy this stainless wool by the metre, so 4 pieces would do you.....
