connector to heat exchanger

  1. hi,

    ongoing with heating system rebuild.

can anyone provide fitting info for the pipes that connect the flexi tubes to the heat exchangers. ie the pipes that pass through the tin. having removed the flexi pipes, it appears that both are just floating about and not connected to anything. its only lack of space that is stopping them falling off.

having felt around with my fingers, it appears the heat echangers are still decent with the little brackets still intact. maybe just missing screws on each side?

for reference, the location of the parts (not actually shown) are highlighted in red on the attached!

i found the grommets on JK. so thats something.

    its a type 4 2lt, 1978 bay.

  3. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

...which you can't fit without dropping the heat exchangers
...which you can't do without taking the silencer off.
Get gaskets and prepare for some swearing at corroded silencer nuts and studs.

  4. In the meantime you should find a way to block holes in the heat exchangers off otherwise they will blast hot air back into the engine compartment. You can achieve good heating this way but without the windscreen demister function.

  5. thanks for confirming this. i suspected so.
