Condenser

  1. I have a 009 dizzy in my 1600tp, I ve noticed on some engines the condenser is at the front of the distributor, while mine's is at the back, does this mean it's 180 degrees out?, would be far easier to change out if it was at the front, the engine seems to run fine !

  2. If your timing was 180 degrees adrift your engine would not be running fine. All that matters is the metal casing of your condenser is grounded. It could be grounded onto the engine caseing anywhere but it would be a pain having to remove it every time the distributor was disturbed so attached at a convenient point on its body makes life easier. There is also a possibility that a long cable between the points and the condenser could be a source of radio interference.

  3. Thanks Fritt............. Karma'd.............. :)

  4. spin the dissy round 180degrees in the case so the condessors at the front, then swap the leads back round the opposite way 180 degrees doing it like this will mean the rotor arm and the correct plug lead are still in sync.

remember your distributor only turns once to two crankshaft rotations
