Complete window rubber set - where from?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by salad.dodger2, Mar 6, 2015.

  1. Hi guys and gals

I need the complete window rubber set for the '73 Devon.
    No louvred/sliding windows, all standard.

Where is a good place to buy from? I'm not bothered about the best but obviously good enough.

    Cheers.

I've bought two sets from JK. The first set was lovely and the second set I haven't fitted yet but don't see any reason why they won't be just as good.

  3. Just thinking about this myself. I'm taking the glass out of mine and the seals are only three years old. Any way of removing without cutting and replacing all the seals? Would you get auto glass man in to do it??

  4. I got my first lot of seals in a kit from Schofields at Volksworld. They went on the glass a treat, was just getting them in the van that was shall we say 'difficult'.

A difficult decision., mine were new about four years ago and in perfect condition with no leaks. I just bit the bullet and cut them out so I didn't risk breaking any glass. I put the windows in myself last time and will do it myself again this time. It is a two man job though.

If you time your visit to pick up your laminate on the right day you'll be able to show me :)

How do you pull the string from the inside and smack the window from the outside?

  8. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, reckon it'll be easier to do that.
@salad.dodger2, most places are the same, just the prices that differ. Maybe speak with Heritage and ask if there's any differences with their seals. I know door seals come in different specs so maybe window seals do too??
I've never bought anything off of JK so I don't know what their stuffs like tbh.

I don't know, it was a genuine question, I can't imagine how one person could fit a window on their own.

And long arms, it's possible but a lot easier with 2

I never cut good rubbers out, it's not that hard to get them out, good rubbers are about the same price as glass apart from the windscreen, even if you break one you're quids in :)
