At six foot five I have some issues with the degree of twist and discomfort afforded me by my original Devon seats. So much so that both my front seats will be joining my mint cond hammocks on Ebay soon. Can anyone tell me if there are any standard modern seats with headrests that are easily fittable to a 79 bay? Not into the whole "Original" scene so i'm not bothered what motor they come out of and colour is of no consequence either at this point.
Whatever you get , fitting them without the runners and bolting them onto the top of the arch will save you a couple of inches BUT you`ll not be able to adjust them . Mine came out a fancy Nissan executive summat or other , less than a year old and a rear end shunt . Best i could find in the scrappy that suited the dimensions i had scribbled down on a fag packet - 20 quid the pair and an afternoon to fit
Not sure if non adjustable would work for me as im a tall Adonis whereas the Missus is 5 ft . I'm not that bothered about the aesthetics as long as it doesn't cause you too much bother fitting them mate
In all seriousness, do any of the above sit flush on the runners or is that too much to ask? Perhaps i should just take these off and have them reupholstered but they are a bit pants comfort wise for a big bloke.
Porsche 944 bolt in straight over the top of the existing runners, meaning you can retain them for later if you want to. They're properly comfortable too and electrically height adjustable.
I've fitted MGF seats into mine - just cut off a couple of brackets, bend a couple round and then it's an easy fit - they go over my runners too.
These are nowt to do with me, just some seats from fleabay. They look nice, not sure on fit, but they come with rails... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswage...962426?hash=item21300b383a:g:R9kAAOSwuLRZ23VW
Got some Mx5 ones (99p fleabay bargain), have runners too and can fit speaker in headrest..... bit fiddly to fit as need brackets for rear fixings though. Heightwise really good and have a pocket inthe back for storage. .
mine are mx5 mark 2.5. i bolted some original vw rails to the bottom so they slide on/off the stock factory runners. no need for any extra holes to be drilled and easily reversible if needed. seat base is approx 1-1.5" lower than the stock re-upholstered seats i had before. they look very similar to Porsche tombstones but were a lot cheaper. passenger side fits like a stock seat on to the westy swivel base so this will still rotate like it should. re-trimmed in OG westy fabric so they match my interior. my write up: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?thr...without-drilling-any-holes-in-your-bus.70375/ oh, and they have heating elements built in too - not got around to hooking those up yet but will do at some point.
