Hello, old time newcomer here. I had two buses back in the 80s, a late 60s tin top with Windows and then a mint '72 westfalia, both sold by the end of the decade before popularity and prices rocketed (£1250 for my Westy, I thought I did well at the time, I could weep now). Anyhow I've now decided that it's time for another, I like the challenge of learning to work on the bus myself because back in the day my dear old dad took care of all that, so my T5 is up for sale/swaps and I'm after a project type bay (but nothing to silly as I have to be realistic in what I can do myself and what I can't plus I need it on the road quite quick for summer trade) to play with. And the big bonus is that I've persuaded the wife it's for the business, I make old school wooden surfboards, skateboards and hand screenprint stuff, so when I do find a van it's one toy I won't have to hide in the board shed! ; )
Sadly the wife has said no to a pickup, shame as they are my favourites. I'm looking at micro bus types mainly, I want to make and put in a day camper interior of some sort, quite like the dormobile look and the idea of Formica trim, but I'm open to options, I've seen some nice vans already, 'solid' though being my main thing.
Welcome but nope don't go back mate you'll only regret it when you're skint and it still hasn't run stick with T5 or even better get a T4
Good grief don't start me on skateboards, I love making them, I do full on 70s Hobie Park Rider/Fibreflex Bowlrider mk2 style decks with good functional rocker that are a blast to skate, totally hand made and hand screen printed, but no Bugger buys them unless I give them away because Chinese made skates especially things like mindless are so damn cheap everyone thinks that's what a deck should cost. But ranting asides I'll post a few pics later when I'm sat at the PC.
