Combustion chamber CC-in kit, does anyone have one they want to sell or that I can borrow??

  1. Pretty much as stated in the title! (except it should have said 'CC-ing' !!)

I know they can be bought or even made but just thought I would see if someone had a kit going spare.

  2. Make your own - much cheaper (and quicker). Circle cut out of perspex (I chopped up an old picture frame), with a hole drilled in the centre. Plastic syringe from the vets or similar, bottle of old antifreeze, sorted :).

Well worth doing, if you've got unknown heads, or suchlike. Very Zen-like and soothing.

  3. I'm lazy - hence the post!:)

  4. I dont even know what this means!!

  5. Ah well, I have confused someone today if nothing else!

  6. Seriously someone tell me what a combustion chamber kit is for!

  7. Very basically, the dish in the heads is a certain size, that along with the dish or dome or flat top of a piston (and the deck height) is what produces the compression ratio.

To work this out you need to know the cc of the dish in the head. You do this by covering the dish of the head over with something flat(CD case) and through a small hole in the flat device you squirt liquid from a syringe, obviously you know how much is in the syringe as it has measurement graticules on it.

From the amount you put in you then know the size of the dish in the head.

  8. Thanks for the explanation.
