I recently adjusted the valve clearances on my 1700 type 4, and after struggling to get the rocker covers to seal properly (they are properly sealed now). There is always a spot of oil on the floor under the left and right heat exchangers, upon further investigation it would appear the oil is coming from where the piston barrels fit into the engine case. Question is would I have caused this by adjusting valve clearances and refitting the rocker covers?
If it is the pushrod tubes is it an engine out job? Also what's the best replacement tubes to use? any hints and tips would be appreciated thanks
not an engine out job mate. Buy the decent quality seals, Victor Reinz brand. Have you a manual to use as a guide?
Front tube seals (cyl head) green ones? Engine block end black (I'm checking I'm correct so I know what to use)
its been that long since I did mine I cant remember. One of the gurus will be along shortly i'm sure.
