No mystery really JD, if you go into a coffe bar and ask for a plain white coffee they'll make it for you. If you want a black coffee just ask for that too, they'll know what you mean. I like a latte meself with a bit of hazelnut syrup in it, and sometimes I just fancy a simple filter coffee. Either way its better than instant (I only drink instant at work)... :))

  3. Its when its served up in something akin to a double handled soup tureen or a reject quality coffee cup built for a weight lifter with unusualy tiny fingers.

  4. But if it was about different types of beer  can't drink the stuff myself but I know one's called IPA ;)

I love my coffee and a ristretto is just the thing in the morning its my rocket fuel

Starbucks salted caramel oggymaflip is gorgeous.

I often take mine black and strong. At home it has to be one of Taylor's of Harrogate. Their Christmas blend was lovely. Java Lava has a kick but my fave is Guatemala cloud forests. All totally pretentious names for a cup of the black but it is nice.

In our house the choice is English white or Italian made in the maganetta black super tar like strong and served in little cups.

In the summer lou makes a italian coffee and leaves it in the fridge to have black and cold the next morning!

I blame Starbucks & the ilk for the rubbish that is called coffee these days. If you want a sweet tasting drink have a milk shake not a coffee.
What's wrong with an espresso or a ristretto? :-

  8. ask for a coffee in France and they give you a egg cup with black stuff in it... C:)

Cyprus coffee is good but like most foreigners coffee should not be served in an eggcup.

  19. I usually ask for an americano with less water than normal.
After a bit of searching I find that what I probably should be asking for is a "long black" which differs from americano in so much that the water goes in first so as not to destroy the crema, and has possibly less water depending on which article you believe.
See how I get on at costa next time, I wont be going to starbucks until they pay the correct amount of british taxes
