Hi all, Apologies if this is a dumb question! Went out in the bus the other evening & noticed that there is a noise when you push the clutch down while you are moving. There is also a very slight whine when you are driving in gear..not sure if the 2 things are connected? There is no noise if you press the clutch down when you are in neutral stationary. Is my clutch knackered & is the gearbox possibly on its was out too? Thanx.
So is that part of the gearbox.? Easy fix? Engine & gearbox out? I just checked the advert & the previous owner recently fitted a new clutch. I have only had the bus a few months.
Thrust bearing is on the end of the lever bar and presses against the clutch to operate it so engine out. It’s not always changed when the clutch is. Should be really, but isn’t always.
So is that a relatively straightforward job..gearbox out? New gearbox? Apologies for my lack if knowledge
Reasonably easy. You will need good axle stands and at least two jacks. I like the ATV jack on the engine. Unbolt engine and slide back off the gearbox shaft. Then just remove your gearbox and it is as simple as that. Took me a whole day to do the job properly. I did have to swap my input shafts and bell housing. Also did my clutch at the same time. Replaced the oil seal on the input shaft too and my starter bush for good measure. I did it all by myself, but life it easier when you have another set of hands.
When you press the clutch you are disengaging the gearbox mainshaft from the engine - no noise, that means you gearbox is making that noise and it shouldn't.
