Clutch knackered?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lord Congi, Feb 28, 2013.

  1. A bit of background ,my clutch cable snapped so I had it replaced (by a local garage) but it was very loose so my VW garage put a link in it and now it was very tight and use to rev when I lifted it ,the last few days when I've been in gear and accelerating as I increase acceleration it justs revs higher but dosent pull the van ,kinda lived with it as it was only every now and then but now it seems to be doing it all the time ,I couldnt get over 35 yesterday , but then nearer home I could?
    Any ideas?
    Cheers in advance

If it doesn't bite until your foot's almost off the pedal, loosen the cable. Try 3-4 turns of the wing nut.

If that's not it, Likely the clutch is contaminated with oil.
I wish you and YorkshireCampers lived near me Dave, I wouldn't need any other customers...

  4. That sounds familiar as I lost all my oil at tatton park and it was the crank shaft seal?

  5. if the crankshaft oil seal is leaking badly then it will soak the clutch in oil causing it to slip
