  1. What should I look for to see if my clutch is reusable?

  2. Amount of "meat" left on your friction plate. I forget what the measurement is - 7mm? Have you got any scoring on your pressure plate?

  3. Is pressure plate the top photo?

Friction plate is the other 2 pic?s

  4. Yep. Looks fine to me.

  5. Yes then, pressure plate wasn't scored, looked nice and shiney smooth.

  6. They are "only" £70 for a brand spanker...... how much is your time worth - what's the likelihood of having the motor out anyway for something else down the line? Are the questions I would be asking myself.

Does it fit the new flywheel ? That would be a strong indicator. That plate looks good. I just sanded the shiny / rusty bits on the flywheel which is the other metal plate in the clutch on my eBay flywheel... then found the flywheel was machined and drilled for 215mm ....and I had bought a 200 mm clutch...

Ask the supplier to fit the right flywheel for your clutch.

  13. @mikedjames @zedders

Yes good point, the new unit uses a 215 clutch, mine is 200.
(I Measured the diameter of friction plate, is that correct for measuring clutch size)??

So now I'm worried, will a 215 mm clutch\ flywheel still fit in my bell housing? Or does the outer circumference of thed flywsheel stay the same whichever clutch is inside?

    It will fit.

  15. Did you say clutch size or crotch size? It'll ride up with wear.

  16. The flywheel will fit in bell housing you mean?

Do they increase the circumference of the inner part of the flywheel to fit a bigger clutch?

They increase the hole in the flywheel

  18. Fanx.

So will my pressure plate still fit yeah?
Just need a new bigger friction plate?

It would work, but not best practice for the longer run.

  20. Err another question.
Having looked at thee usual sites for a new clutch kit, the pictures show the KiT comes with a release bearing ( whatever that is). My clutch didn't have one. Should it of? It worked fine without......

If the kit comes with one, should I leave it out?
