Clunky noise ???

My bus has developed a clunky noise coming from the gearbox . It only does it in 3rd and 4th . It’s quite rapidly gone from a tick tick to a clunk clunk . Sounds terminal. So , does anyone know of anyone that does gearbox rebuilds in the Norwich area ? For the record it’s a 6 rib mated to a 2 l . Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

 

Have you checked the drive shaft CV joints? They are a lot cheaper than a gearbox overhaul.

 

While it may be the gearbox, it might if you are lucky be the cv joint(s) lacking grease.

 

Yeah done all that , checked drive shafts , new CV joints all round . Bushes , doughnuts, shocks anti roll bars etc . Replaced all of them , I’m quite certain it’s the gearbox
