When I close my cab doors/slider it definitely wakes up my friends in the next van & i'm sure it wakes the rest of the campsite up too. Is there anything I can do to make these close smoother without the *Clang, Bang* noises they make. I appreciate they are going to be louder than a new car, but just thought i'd ask the guys in the know.
Degrease two bottom rollers and channel and the mid channel under the cover, did this to mine and its a lot quieter
If your rubber seals are firm change to the more expensive softer type have a look at other vans next time your at a meet
Harryankle - Degrease using an old rag to get off all of the old oil/dirt etc & what do you recommend applying as a new grease? lithium ??
It won't make it entirely silent but it's much quieter if you slide it almost shut then pull in the rear edge using the handle provided. This what my Westy came with but it took me ages to realise what it's for.
No grease it attracts dirt, the rollers are meant to go round not skid. Perhaps the tiniest smidge on the centre track for the nylon block.
HAHA - I had someone shout at me once for 'slamming my door' then the cheeky $*&^(**& kept me awake all night with the unzipping and re zipping of his tent. my door is still noisy
I love the noise - it means "campervan" and "camping" to me and you can tell if there's another van on the campsite as well.
On my 73 you pull the door to, then lift the handle to pull the back in Mines got the keyhole in the handle Just make sure someone hasn't turned the handle on the inside so it points up Or it will snap off 😃
