Cigarette lighter wiring

  1. Morning all, I need to fit a cigarette lighter for charging phones and games consoles but my leisure battery isn't connected or tested so I'm a bit nervous about none ting it in case it's been disconnected because of a problem? Is it possible to wire up a cigarette lighter temporarily using the vehicle battery? It would only be for one trip and only used while the vehicle was running. Any wiring tips would be great thanks, dan.

  2. If it is for one journey I would just wire it direct to the battery with an in line fuse near the battery connection, earth it to the body or straight to the batt. Then rip it out and start again when you get home

  3. That sounds like a good idea, thanks. I haven't had a look yet but is there an easy route through into the interior from the battery?

  4. You will need to look around for a suitable hole to use. The leisure batt wiring will go through somewhere. You could also use the fuse box if you want the socket in the front. Undo the 2 screws so ou can see the back of it, there will be a couple of spare terminals you take the supply from.

Only real easy non-drilling route is through the drain hole in the bottom of your spare wheel well.
