Just taken old chewed up cigarette lighter out and put a new one in van. It was not wired up properly so where do all the wires go please. there was a black wire connected to the connection that touches the small nut in the middle and a brown one to the side … is this right? Also where do the black and red ones that are connected to the illuminating bulb go? Thanks Lee
red on bulb to a live from sidelights on, black to earth, inside pin to live feed - a good one not a thin wire - other to earth.
The socket Live goes goes to the centre pin Earth goes to the outer shell The back light Red goes to the dash back light wire on the light switch Black goes to earth
I would go: Black wire from van to center nut spade terminal Brown wire from van to outside spade terminal Black wire from lamp onto spade connector with brown wire on it too Red wire from lamp to up behind the speedo and jump it onto the end of the wires that go to the dash bulbs
Just traced the little brown wire to the back of the speedo area and the thicker black wire goes to the fuse box I'm guessing this is the live that goes to the centre pin on lighter and the little brown is the live for the illuminating bulb on cig lighter that connects to the little red wire ... ... Is that correct…… so I need then to run an earth from body to the outer connector on the back and another from the little black wire on the illuminating bulb.... Does that make sense???
