  2. I'll have to get a better camera, more memory & longer lasting batteries because I enjoy taking pictures but my cameras not up to much.
The other thing that happened to me is that my speedo cable snaped probably because the new one I fitted the other day was for a LHD, so I got a new one from Mega Bug & a circlip & fitted it as the other group members were waiting to leave. I routed it nice & tidy so it won't kink or break again.
Left Bug Jam about 5PM & headed home We were about half way thrugh the journey when Alans throtle cable snapped. We done a temporary repair with a cable connector we had to repeat this procedure about 4 or 5 times but we all got home safely & thats the main thing. I'm looking forward to the next show now.

Bought this on the Samba its a dash mounted wiper switch from an prototype bay, I'm considering fitting a rear wiper & if I do this will operate it:-

  4. Done a bit of work on Chug today, I ran a wire from my temp guage into the engine bay, drilled a hole in the tinware, fitted a small grommet & ran my cable down to the sender, I covered the cable all the way to the sender & through the engine bay in heatproof silicon sleave so it won't melt.
I've run it up to the dash & connected it up to the guage, checked it & it works.
I've also fitted my dash pod, I achieved this by cutting a piece of aluminium & fixing this to the bottom of the dash, I then screwed the pod to the piece of aluminium, Ive wired up the clock & its illumination & this also works.
Fitted my heated screen switch into the pod also.

  5. Ordered some bits for my bus today, some more westy cloth & some wrap around mats, so they will be with me tomorrow I've also been given some chrome bumpers, I have to pay for them but we haven't agreed a price yet. He's a nice guy so I'm sure he'll look after me.

  6. I got Chug Chug booked in to Mosleys in Llandielo Tomorrow to put him on the rolling road. I'll video the event if he'll let me.

  7. Met a nice bloke called Ali from Clydach he's given me a set of Chrome Bay window bumpers, don't know how much he wants for them yet but I'm sure we can do a deal. :D

  8. Ready for tonights story children? Good then I'll begin.

Left the house at about 9 this morning to go down th Mosleys in Llandeilo the only place to my knowledge in these parts with a rolling road. I had a bit of a set back on the way, some lady in a Mercedes Vito pulled out on me last minute causing me to do an emergency brake & I nearly wiped her out. When I put the bus into second gear to pull off the gearstick snapped. Its only a year old & its a quality Empi one which worked 100%. I had to drive the rest of the way in second gear. When I got there we rang GSF they didn't have one in stock Graham in FBI wanted £25.00 for a second hand standard one & Harry the Illegitimate child wouldn't answer his phone. Mosleys lent me a car & I drove back home, I searched my garge & luckily enough I had an old one tucked away.
Got back to Mosleys & got the bus in the garage the guys had the garage since the 70's & really knows what he's doing, he also rallys cars so knows a thing or two about reliable stuff, tuning & modding. He's also a really friendly helpfull chap who goes out of his way to explain stuff in simpe terms & I learned a lot today.

  9. Vince informed me that my distrubitor is worn & I need a new one its causing my timing to jump about when accelerating.

He also discovered that I have the wrong spark plugs fitted I got BP5ES fitted when I should have B5ES he recomended NGK ones as they are the best at the moment.

I was also informed that my No. 2 spark plug the one that jumped out on the way to bug jam wasn't home all of the way as the thread is slightly damaged, he got it in further but I'm going to have to sort it out properly, this is causing me a sliht misfire.

The other very interesting thing he picked up is that on fast speeds I'm not getting enough fuel to the LHS carb this is because there is not enough fuel pressure coming from the standard pump & so I am going to fit a Facet electric unit & also a Filterking regulator to regulate the pressure down to about 3Bar this will mean I get a much better performance at higher speeds.

He also found a loose linkage on the LHS carb & this has now been tightned & so its performing better.

A standard 2.0L CJ engine produces 70BHP Chug Chug drove in & showed 74 BHP now its up to 83BHP once all of the jobs are done it should be up to about 95BHP a flying machine.

  10. This is one of the spark plugs I have the electrode should be flush with the end & not sticking out at all so I'll buy new next time I'm up in GSF. :D

  12. Got my Gearleaver on & it works a treat, nearly sh*t myself on the way back from Swansea today the rear brakes started to bind & with all the smoke I thought the bus was on fire I stoped there & then in the middle of the road fire extiguisher in hand fearing the worse. Thank god I didn't need it
