Anyone have any tips or pics of their successfully shaped spark plug sender for a T4 engine? it appears to be a proper squeeze. Luckily I have a loose head to use to get it into shape, but...
Is this what your looking for Steve http://www.tc.co.uk/thermocouples/type4.html Ignoring the "type4 in the link as an engine reference it's not, it's a bullet type thermocouple with threaded ends!
Is it a complete ring? Mine had a bit cut out of it which allowed it to pinch together once under the plug
Ahh hang on, spark plug sender - my bad, was thinking of the sender next to the spark plug as my AMC heads have those style threaded holes for a cht sensor
I'm trying to imagine how that would help. It's a bit late for hacking a channel like this, but you can see the problem...
I can only say how mine was, it's just wind it up and crush to shape, I guess mine was either cut or originally like I describe but it was concave by the time I had it
Now I understand - you want a ring type thermocouple - diameter large enough to pass over a spark plug.
Yep I know - I'm thinking! Does it have to be spark plug mounted? If not, you could pop it under the case bolt next to it using a smaller diameter washer split open slightlyThe thermocouple wires will work wound together and soldered. They could, if connected well, fit snugly under the case washer - we sometimes use this method at work where a washer is the only way of holding it down tight
I've got one of the Dakota digital ones fitted on my bus and I simply put a spark plug through the hole and pre-bent the thermocouple to fit the plug before fitting it into the engine. I am guessing there is a different issue as this seemed a bit of an obvious way of doing it? I also have a spare brand new Dakota Digital thermocouple if its any use?
Is that T4? It's down a hole which becomes a tight slot with the spark plug. There isn't really enough of the thin part of it to bend up the slot then back away from the socket hex.
