Does anyone know where I can get a chrome engine lid lock for a 79 Westy. I've tried the usual retail outlets but they only stock black ones. Is it possible to adapt an existing push button handle and fit a lock barrel to it?
yes but you need the locking part, they are not the same on the brand new ones, have you got a non locking chrome one ?
Could try Custom and Commercial for a chromy lock (although I think these were fitted to earlys, so may not fit). You can't retro-fit a lock.
I gave £50 at the swap meet at "Volksworld Sandown" ! Could give "Megabug" a ring they stock a LOT of hard to get bits
I got mine in that section full of old rusty bits at Bus Freeze. It was £25 and he had a couple (plus a lot of the black plastic ones) That section of the show that before I got my van I would have assumed was scrap metal. Maybe any show with a section like this?
