  1. This may be a silly question if so I am sure you will say but, has anybody ever 2 pack clear coated their chrome stuff and if so what was the outcome?

Some boaty people do this to their brass.
In a couple of years it looks pants as it all starts to peel off & the brass oxidises. May be different on chrome, but I'd not be sure...
Anyway, think of all the polishing you'd miss out on

  3. Exactly! I'm thinking the same probably good initially but, getting worse and more difficult to get looking good again.

I am only trying to think of ways to keep the chrome looking at its best with the least effort and I think the conclusion will be that good old polishing regularly is probably the best way.

  4. You can clear coat not a problem looks good :)keeps it perfect on a show car's ;) but in use no :(all you need is one stone chip and it will lift and peel

  5. The chrome layer is porous and the rust comes through from underneath. The old fashioned way is to rub in lanolin, then polish off, the lanolin fills the porosity and stops the rust coming through. Rubbing in a modern corrosion inhibitor like ACF 50 should keep the rust spots under control.
