I have done away with all the heating system as i think even when in full good working order they stink of fumes .
So i will probably castrate the fan to make life easier .
I don't much use it in winter anyway so bugger it .

Morning Dave ...how much would the flat section be, around the engine hatch .
I dont know what the fitting procedure is as to how much you need .
Never actually seen one been done ...as in do just cut out and then fit the hatch with about 3 inches extra around the perimiter of the hatch ...is there a hatch with it .
It"s something i have always thought about doing ,but wether i will get round to doing it is another thing ...coming up to being retired so you never know . Cheers Ewan .

  6. I've seen one done on a 1600 , it had a perspex cover and made such a difference.

Have done away with the heating system ...so may as well take the fan off .
I have kept all the bits, pods pipes and so on .
Spent a lot of money getting everything ...original H/E too .

Oh it worked ok but still stank of warm engine fumes .Both H/E were fine , one was new unused ...no dripping oil on the exchangers either .
Any old 1970,s vehicle under the bonnet or in the engine bay will smell as they get older . As said don't use it much in winter ...so a coat and two jumpers as did in my old Foden .

Done this on mine about 6 months ago + also a hatch above the fuel tank as using a Subaru in tank pump, Not a bad job to do as you are just mounting it to the blank pressing of the rear floor, but fairly time consuming to do neatly, pm me if you want more info,
