  1. After not being used for a week over Christymas the vans started playing silly beggars when cold. Wont idle/keeps cutting out if revs get too low. Its fine once warmed up. Nothings beens touched or changed.
Anything obvious i can check for?

Did you put your foot to the floor once before starting it. Also it could be a bit damp like your pants when you see me

  3. Adjust the choke for winter setting. Assume its a 1600t1 engine?

  6. Only damp because of your watersports fetish (splish splash)
Yep ive always done the pedal press before cold start.

  9. so its dun this the week after you didnt use it ?

  10. You need to go for a longish drive say 30 mins or so it needs a proper warm up. But this time of year the temperature changes and damp will play havoc with it. I still think you need to slightly move the choke a bit for winter. Trust me I am a doctor, will save you playing the pedals at traffic lights like a demented organist!

This could also be the classic dirt in the idle jet. It has settled out after a week and is now resting in place.

  17. From cold start, I activate choke, it starts fine but won't idle, I have to keep revving., or it stalls. Go for a run and get it up to temperature and its fine, runs sweet ,idles, super . everything a ok.
Maybe tomorrow I try starting without activating choke, see what happens

  18. In have had a few issues with mine when the weather changes. Apparently the chokes need adjustment for winter and summer. It is mentioned at the bottom of this page and also tells you how to adjust them

  19. Today I didn't use choke, it fired up then stalled. Started again, fired up and ran as if on choke, ie idling fast , was OK didn't stall.

  20. If you can be bothered, remove the air filter and look down the carb top to see if the choke plate latches correctly once you've done the "pedal dab" (you don't need to push it right down to the floor, just a bit of a press to release the choke mechanism). The spring in the choke heater might be duff, not engaged properly, or may not be swivelled into the proper operating position. It's this spring that moves the choke plate when the engine's cold.
