  1. Im in need of a new daily drive

I need somthing thats cheap to buy ,cheap tax, cheap insurance, very economical on the fuel and parts are plentifull and reasonably cheap

I was thinking along the lines of a fiesta, corsa, polo, lupo, micra type car

The thing is im not up to speed on modern motors at all so i thought id ask your opinions and suggestions

  2. I think someone on here has a nice little lupo for sale para??

  3.
  4. Ideally in the range of one to two thousand quid as im going to have to get a bank loan

  5. Lupo are cheap and do good mpg .
I have a mk4 golf that's good on fuel as long as you don't cane it , only a 1.4 and you can get them cheap .
    Or go diesel ?

My missus had a 1.4 Fiesta on and 04 plate, diesel - sipped fuel and went really well - you can get them 3 or 5 door and the only common fault on them is injector seals which you can hear a mile off.

Loads of parts on ebay - cheap to insure, £30 a year road tax.

It wasn't a missile but was fine at motorway speeds, had electric windows, locking, air con etc., and there are loads out there.

  7. I have a 95 polo 1.6 which does 38mpg, only downside is it is 220 a year tax, thing is for the sake of a hundred quid more and the fact that I picked it up for a song makes it worthwhile. I don't think tax should be a huge factor in buying a cheap run around. Unless it is free tax versus 200 quid of course

  11. Pug diesel 1.9 very good
    or a 1.2 clio

  12. My daughter has a 1.4 TDI Sport Polo. I gave £2,500 for it 2 years ago. It does about 70MPG, costs £30 a year to TAX, insurance is £700 (she's 21) & I can service it myself cheap as chips. I'm going to get my younger daughter one as well, she currently has a 1.2 SE Polo. Its nice but not a patch on the TDI one. :)

£2k!! Are you made of money?? The most I'd pay for a daily is £1k and for that it'll have to be something special. So for £875 of my earth pounds I bought my mk3 Golf Convertible Avantgarde. Basically a GTi cabrio.

Parts are cheap even from VW and plentiful. The mk3 is bullet proof, rather good gas mileage for a 2 litre, easy to drive and even better, it's fun to drive, easy to service or not. I abused my old mk3 GTi and yet it kept on going. I'd have a mk3 any day every day and will continue to do so until there are no mk3's left and I have to go mk4 :(

I spend more on this Golf in cleaning products and washing it than servicing or getting under the bonnet because it's once a year service is cheap to do. And this means I have more spare cash for the bus :)

I've got Mk4 TDi Golf. It just doesn't go wrong. Had it from 60,000 it's on 140,000 now. In that time the wiper mech got stuck (£27 from dealership for the whole lot), some rear bushes wore out and the rear discs. That's it. It gets 60-70mpg but if I thrash it constantly I can get it down to 50mpg. I expect it's worth about £1500.

I'd travel south if it's as you say and save £1,000. ;)

Have you looked at Auto Trader online?? My Golf was from Guilford way. If you fin anything closer this way to me I'd be happy to take a look.

I understand the need for a car and the running costs etc etc but I'm a bit of a tight bum when it comes to paying out a lot of money for an everyday car that gets beaten up in a carpark when you pop out for groceries. I just think if you look harder you could find something more suitable for a lot less.

    My offer if always there.
