I had a neighbour tree thing years ago,only my neighbour came into my garden and cut everything by the fence down to the ground.The police weren't interested,they reckoned it would have been a civil case for trespass but the judge might take pity on him as he was pensioner.so I compromised. I had him and his son round to clear it,they were at it till two in the morning.I never took it any further.But I did put up a big shed that I got from a building site
I'd say depends on if there an ass or not. Thankfully I get on with my neighbours so would offer a beer over the fence and say thanks but next time don't cut so much off. Though if I didn't get on I'd stick something quite thorny into his garden.
