I need some inspiration. For those of you who don't know my business manufactures polymer coatings that are very tough industrial coatings. In April I am exhibiting at the Commercial Vehicle show at the NEC and need a centre piece for my stand. I initially thought of using a small trailer chassis to coat but they are too expensive for what I want. So, what I am trying to find is some sort of small 2m x 1m ish size chassis from some sort of vehicle that I could pick up from a scrap yard or eBay. Any ideas instead of trailers? It needs to be box section rather than tubular ideally, and it will be grit blasted and then coated. Your ideas please!

There must be plenty Ford Transit chassis in scrap yards anywhere , they are boxed ...just get them to cut a section out .
If its the coating im thinking of id happily let you coat all of it You will have to cover the cost of picking it up and returning it However i could flat pack it so you could use a courier

Is your process a dipping process or a spraying process? If its dipping, then I'd go the subframe route as most trailer chassis are galvanised or aluminium....(though @paradox's trailer gives you a mobile tactile display) whereas subframes on certain vehicles are renowned to rot out where the coating is chipped off. If its a spray process I'd go mountain bike frame or motorbike rear swing arm, both items take a battering and steel ones are much cheapness. Ever considered car wheels?
Our coatings are spray applied and don't chip off once on as they are polymers, so sub frame or chassis will be fine from a rot point of view. As far as type of item - it needs to be something a bit more related to commercial vehicles as the types of people viewing will question if a bike frame is the typical sort of application. It needs to demonstrate where the coatings may be used on commercial vehicles more so.
Must be plenty of lorry/tractor bits at a scrap yard they could 'donate' before sending to china. Whole scrap car/van is sometimes only worth £50 when taken to a scrap yard!
Really? I'd worry that people coming from an automotive background couldn't make the leap of thought that a fast moving wheel next to a steel piece of wheel mount is not relevant to their industry, and a tough coating would benefit. Is this a coating that needs to be applied from new - as in onto a clean surface? Having a little background with plant and commercial, am simply looking at it from a 'why would I want this' point of view. * not questioning your business model - I used to go to a lot of trade shows and am simply thinking what would make me stop and look at the product in a show environment.
