Anyone that hasn’t been out in their bus for a while, might want to charge their batteries up. Leaving batteries dead for even a short while don’t do them any favours at all. So go and give em a treat

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, don’t leave them too long this time of year :)

I’ve got trickle chargers going all over the place, then forgot my daily isn’t getting used either. I think I got to it in time.

  3. Went down and kicked the tyres last week and both batteries were 11.5 so ok but need to get out for a `shopping` trip Methinks ...

  4. I'm hoping the solar panel + VSR has done this for me

  5. I fitted solar last year which has honestly been a revalation when the van was being used as it should - no use being in the garage though

  6. No space in the garage. I did think I ought to start it up this PM and release the handbrake too.

About 11.4 volts is fully discharged. You’re in the ‘it’s almost dead’ range, don’t leave that shopping trip too long.

As my daily is sorned, it's battery is sitting in the garage, fully charged. All my batteries are topped up every few weeks.

Ever since I replaced the MOV varistors in my battery charger with a 400 volt bidirectional TVS diode, the battery charger has stopped tripping the breaker every 2 weeks - the varistors absorb surges but lose "hit points" every time they do. When they fail, they short out the mains.

The TVS diodes cost about £2 each instead of 50p but they will absorb energy indefinitely provided they dont overheat on the way, up to about 1.5kW for a short time.

So my batteries have solar cells and a mains charger keeping them topped up. Much better.

Same here.... the carport is fab for keeping the van out of the weather now, but a bit rubbish for the solar battery charging, even with the clear polycarbonate roof.

  12. As it happens, I charged my leisure battery up today, it’s showing it’s taken a charge, but who knows as it was pretty flat :(

I foresee a number of new batteries being purchased in my near future.
