changing the emulsion tubes and air correctors

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by bluething, Nov 29, 2013.

  1. Has anyone changed these themselves? Ive got a pair of weber 34 ICT 's and i need to swap the emulsion tubes and air correctors. Ive ordered these along with a new top cover gasket as it looks like I'm going to have to remove this to get at them.

Does anyone have any hints or tips that I should be aware of??

    Cheers
    Dave

  3. Generally an easy job on any carb. Just get stuck in!

  4. cheers for that! looks fairly straightforward. the the emulsion tubes just pull out then? they dont seem to be screwed in, i'm guessing the air corrector holds it in

  5. You may be right - normally the air corrector sits on top of the emulsion tube. Taking it to bits will reveal all!

  6. my worry is the taking to bits part....

  7. It's easy-peasy. There's nothing you can undo that can't be done up again. Go for it...

Yes the airs hold the emulsions. you might have to hook the emulsions out.
    Which emulsions have you ordered?

If you are worried about putting it back right take pictures as you strip it down and also lay out all the pieces around the carb in some kind of exploded version of where they came from.

Then you will realise that the bits only go in one place anyway and the second time will be easy.

  11. Did it have the F78 emulsion tubes in originally (as they all seem to have)?

  12. yeah, the guy who fitted the carbs last year said it was pulsing a bit and he's right. not loads just enought to annoy me a little so I thought I'd fit what he suggested :)

  13. All done. It was very straightforward as you all said. Glad I did it myself as I now know how it all goes together. It's now running great :)
